Hundertwasser writes about this print “The Cat of Mu”: The “Cat of Atlantis” became “Mu No Neko” (the Cat of Mu, the Pacific Atlantis in Japanese). The original image was created on Santorini, in the white vaulted house. Santorini is said to have been Atlantis. When dreaming of Atlantis and Mu, something like this arises without my doing, a cat of walls and windows, as white as lime and snow.

After his return to Europe Hundertwasser planned to sign the 5 sheets of the portfolio “Guidecca Colorata” by hand.
Due to his death, the 5 sheets could no longer be hand-signed and were instead stamped by the estate. ” Verlassenschaft Hundertwasser ESTATE” as well as proof prints. However, there are a few hand-signed state prints per motif.
This sheet is numbered II/XXXV, and is a proof signed with the estate stamp. “Estate Hundertwasser ESTATE” as well as 3 Inkan stamps in red.
