Nude

The exhibition Nude is dedicated entirely to the representation of the human body, offering a direct insight into the distinct artistic perspectives of the artists featured.

Bringing together works that could hardly be more different in style and period, the exhibition creates a series of compelling juxtapositions and dialogues. These encounters also invite reflection, encouraging visitors to question their own ideas of the body, beauty and physical ideals.

The Nude in Art History

From fleshy putti in Baroque frescoes and athletic heroes in Neoclassical sculpture to the femme fatale in Symbolist paintings, the nude has remained one of the most enduring and celebrated genres in the history of art.

Veneration, idealisation, fetishisation or humiliation – representations of the naked body have always been open to different interpretations. This is equally evident in the diverse ways artists of the 20th century approached the nude. Spanning more than 120 years, the exhibition brings together historical works and contemporary pieces, making visible how perceptions of the naked body have evolved over time.

Contemporary art increasingly adopts a critical perspective, challenging objectifying ways of looking at the body and questioning normative ideals of physical appearance.We are delighted to welcome you to this special exhibition.
